World Health Organizations recommendations for keeping mothers and birthing parents in skin-to-skin contact whenever possible, regardless of whether you are having a vaginal or a cesarean

Why did I start this company?
My name is Meagan Furnivall Petter, and I have been a midwife for fifteen years. I have spent hundreds of hours with women, birthing people and their new babies, and helping to support their journey into parenthood. I believe that women deserve exceptional healthcare, not just "mediocre at best" healthcare, but the best the world has to offer. I have learned through my time as a clinician, a researcher, a mother and a leader that when healthcare providers and women receive exceptional care, the whole family and community benefit from it. I am passionate about helping women and their families access necessary information and education to make important decisions, as well as creating technology that fills the many gaps in the women's health space. One driver of my desire to support women is the pressing concern over unprecedented rates of postpartum mental health disorders. Did you know that the number one leading cause of maternal mortality in the first year postpartum is suicide, after obvious concerning obstetrical reasons (like excessive bleeding)? Did you know that the most important time in a child's life is from conception until their second birthday? I have had the privilege of watching women and their families grow, give birth and nurture their babies, and there is a role more critical to our society than that of a mother. I have watched over the years, how one event can transform people's lives in both good and poor ways. My mission is to help birthing people have better birth experiences, and reduced separation from their babies, as well as support clinicians to provide women with the care they need, through innovative products and services.
